Kratzke Dam Flood Repair Ecological Assessment

Kratzke Dam Flood Repair Ecological Assessment

Yarramine was engaged by Georgiou to carry out an ecological assessment for proposed flood repair works at Katzke Dam, located in Highfields. The assessment aimed to evaluate the site's ecological values, recommend ecological management measures, and provide planning and statutory advice on approval pathways for the repair works.

Our scope of works included the following key activities:

    • Desktop Analysis - Reviewing various data sources to investigate and identify regional ecosystems, flora, and fauna species (including weed and pest animal species) that may exist onsite or nearby, guiding subsequent field survey efforts.
    • Field Surveys - Conducting targeted wildlife and tree surveys to evaluate the presence or potential presence of ecological features, significant vegetation communities, and flora and fauna species on the site.
    • Ecologically Significant Areas Analysis - Performing a qualitative assessment to determine the presence of Ecologically Significant Areas (ESAs) - areas requiring avoidance or protection due to their ecological importance.
    • Approval Pathway Analysis - Identifying necessary environmental approvals and further assessments required to facilitate the repair project.
