New Home Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Assessment, Mount Rascal

Gordon Bourke Constructions commissioned Yarramine to undertake a preliminary and then final site-specific Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Assessment for a proposed residential dwelling at Mount Rascal, near Toowoomba.

A Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) assessment is used to measure the potential exposure of a building or property to bushfire hazards, such as ember attack, radiant heat, and direct flame contact.  BAL ratings are categorized into six levels, ranging from BAL-Low (minimal risk) to BAL-FZ (extreme risk with direct exposure to flames).  These ratings are based on factors like proximity to vegetation, slope, and the type of vegetation surrounding the property.

The assessment is a mandatory requirement for proposed dwellings in and near bushfire-prone areas, as it helps determine the level of risk and guides construction requirements for the building.
