In June 2022, Yarramine was engaged by the Locker Valley Regional Council (LVRC) to undertake in a peer review of several environmental and ecological studies submitted by Lockyer Valley Foods as part of a development application for its large food processing facility located off the Warrego Highway in Withcott, east of Toowoomba. The facility is set to provide a multi-diverse packaging operation for fresh, frozen, powdered and canned fruit and vegetable markets, sourced primarily from the Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, and Darling Downs regions. Tasks undertaken included review of all application material with a focus on the air quality, acoustic, bushfire and ecological technical reports submitted, focussing on their merits, findings and any mitigation measures included to determine any inconsistencies and if the proposed development met the relevant provisions of the planning scheme. During the review several outstanding matters associated within potential lighting impacts, noise and setback to significant wildlife habitat as well as maintenance of a proposed fauna exclusion fence were identified, and of which formed the basis for Information Request issued by LVRC to the applicant. In November 2022 a review of the amended reports and additional information supplied by the applicant was undertaken as a supplementary service which concluded changes made to the development and further information provided was satisfactory. |
