Yarramine was engaged by Decmil to undertake a Construction Noise & Vibration Assessment relating to construction works associated with its Warrego Highway Upgrade Program: Chinchilla Open Level Crossing Upgrade Project. The upgrade project is a significant project for the township of Chinchilla and involved the upgrade of the Warrego Highway through the town (from two lanes to four lanes), together with several intersection and an open level railway crossing upgrade, installation of street lighting and utilities, pavement reconstruction and stormwater infrastructure. In undertaking the assessment and consideration of the requirements of the Department of Main Roads Transport Noise Management Code of Practice: Volume 2, ambient and background noise monitoring was conducted, project specific assessment noise criteria developed, and with the aid of the SoundPLAN Essentials 4.1 computer package, modelled predictions of construction noise impact on a nearby sensitive receptors was assessed. In addition, project specific assessment vibration criteria were developed and safe working buffer distances calculated. |
